A man with an abundance of competent experience under his belt. A man who had the passion to grow and succeed in his field. A man with an idea. That was the kind of man Engr. Emmanuel A. Galang was. It all started with his desire to build a radio station made exclusively for students to train and further hone their skills in. Specifically, it was for Galang Technical Institute, a technical school located in Bataan that was established in 1981 by Engr. Galang, an Electronics and Communications Engineer. This desire grew as he later changed it to an even better idea. He thought of building a commercial FM station that could be enjoyed by a wider audience, was marketable, and could still function as a training ground for students. Thus, his knowledge, experience, and hard work paved the way to the birth of GV Broadcasting System. Ulitmately, DWGV became Angeles city’s pioneer FM station.

DWGV operated in Angeles city, Pampanga through the license issued by the National Telecommunication Commission (NTC). Test broadcast started on November 7, 1983 and formal vow to the public was made on the 31st of December the same year. With a signal of 5kw, the station covered Pampanga entirely, along with a large prtion of Central Luzon. It’s frequency, 99.1 MHZ, is considered within a vantage point in stereo dial positioning.

Starting out with a select few, the station has evolved immensely in just 30 years of service, giving great employment opportunities to many walks of life. The station has taken in a number of people with potential and has produced some of the country’s most successful media practitioners such as Ted Failon, Erwin Tulfo, Daniel Razon and many others.

It has also developed and improved so many students and graduates, not only those from Galang Technical Institute, but also those from other schools who were willing to learn and even master the many areas involved in running a radio station such as announcing, news casting, producing radio commercials, conducting interviews, selling, research and other fields relative to broadcasting.

DWGV became Angeles city’s center of information and communication. Its programming, a balance of entertainment and information, catering to all socio-economic classes, particularly the B, C, and D market. GV plays only the best of every genre and has been part of many concerts featuring both local and national artists, eventually contributing to the pulicity of not only the station, but also that of the city.

Looking forward to advancement, the company naturally considered expansion. Not long after, investors were invited and converted the company into a corporation on December 5. 1998 and took effect on the first working day of 1989, intent on putting up additional radio stations, to operate a television station and other related fields.

The following are the Board of Directors:

Emmanuel A. Galang -Chairman/President
Rosalina V. Galang -Director/Treasurer/VP-Finance
Ed Benedict V. Galang -Director/VP-Engineering
Emmanuel V. Galang II -Director/VP-Operations
Rossana V. Galang -Director/VP-Mktg./Corp. Sec.
Erwin V. Galang -Exec. Vice-Pres./Gen. Mgr.

Being a native of San Jose, Batangas, it was but natural for Engr. Galang to put up the next DWGV in the province. Test Broadcast started December 1995 and was formally launched on February 24, 1996. DWGV 99.9 broadcast service areas include primarily Batangas, Southern Cavite, Southern Laguna, Northern Mindoro. It includes Central Cavite, Central Laguna, Central Mindoro and Southern Quezon as its secondary areas; Southern Rizal, Northern Cavite, Northern Laguna, Marinduque and Quezon as the tertiary areas.

Not a year had passed and another station was in the wraps, but this time on the AM band, DWGV-AM 792 KHz was established with one goal and that was to serve the public. It served as the information center of the region.

Oftentimes, its public affairs programs became the avenue wherein the community and civil organizations would come together for dialogues, symposia, conferences, seminars, fora and the like. Gv also became the way by which various government and private activities were broadcasted, without which would otherwise remain unknown. The news programs has given listeners all they needed to know here and abroad with concentration on local news.
30 years saw the successful operation of 3 radio stations, but the expansion of GV Broadcasting System, doesn’t stop there. RA 8169 Franchise has been submitted to Congress for amendment. From radio exclusive to Luzon, to radio and TV all over the country.
